An
historic downtown hotel, which
had been vacant for years, was
restored as a 54-room business-class
hotel. Originally constructed
in 1929, the seven-story building
had been acquired by the City
of Bryan and then sold to a
developer selected through an
RFP process. Funding for the
public/private project involved
the City of Bryan, the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD), and a local
bank, as well as federal tax
credits for historic properties.
The National Development Council
worked with the City to oversee
the project.
